OPTEX FA became independent from OPTEX(parent company), and was established at Kyoto in January in 2002. FA division used to be a part of OPTEX well known as security sensors. However FA will pursue a career as manufacturing and selling sensors specialized in factory automation sensors.
When taking up FA business, our collaborated company SICK AG should be focused on. We started technical collaboration between infrared & compact techniques which OPTEX had been good at, and German traditional techniques which SICK GmbH had been developing and excelling. In 1987, OPTEX started OEM offering for W6 series to SICK GmbH. To make our technical collaboration more distinctive, OPTEX and SICK GmbH established SICK OPTEX, the joint company in 1989 at Kyoto in Japan and started to produce sensors which all talents were put into. For 10 years, SICK OPTEX brand spread in world market in no time and SICK OPTEX became one of the most successful Japan-German joint company. After becoming independent, OPTEX FA succeeds to the cooperative structure. Now OPTEX FA and SICK AG divide ownership of SICK OPTEX evenly.
Regarding sales, OPTEX FA is in charge of Asian countries and SICK AG have charges in the other countries. We have technical collaboration in the field of photoelectric sensor where more than 30 manufacturers, commencing with Japan and Germany, are competing. For beating other competitors, OPTEX FA started china production in 2002 and releases maid-in-china SICK OPTEX brand. In addition to that, we challenged to the measurement field and developed displacement sensors.
Now we have just started our new challenges. Both parent companies believe SICK OPTEX show the world best solution and raise new innovation.
